7:00am Breakfast in Hotel Mount Racey at Yubari 夕張. Simple yet colourful dishes made me regain my appetite a little… however this was the 7th buffet meal in this trip… never thought I would be drowned and stuffed by a mountain of awesome food in Hokkaido.
Taxidermy near the entrance of the hotel’s buffet restaurant.
Tourist information Centre.
This looked like a small house just few steps away from Hotel Mount Racey was actually a food stall complex, hidden with EIGHT local food stalls.
For more details about this hidden food paradise, you can refer to this website http://kimi-tourguide.blogspot.com/search/label/Yubari
At the exterior of the hotel hung up a few classic old painted movie posters.
8:30am Coal Mine Museum
One of the huge machine for coal mining was displayed beside “black gold” coal rocks outside the museum.
Obviously I was more attracted to the garden and forest around the museum.
The Museum only operates during the end of April to mid of October.
12:00pm We reached Sapporo city and headed straight to lunch. Thank goodness that this meal was not buffet… It was the famous ramen with special side dishes.
There were Pickled garnishes on every table.
Yummy Onsen Egg~!
Onsen eggs. Method:
1. First boil a pot water with a pinch of salt.
2. Bring the salt water to boil, turn off the heat. Place the eggs slowly into the hot water. Leave eggs still seating in the hot water for 30 seconds and then turn on the stove again in high heat.
3. Simmer for 5 minutes. If the stove fire is very strong, medium fire will be fine as well.
4. After five minutes off the heat immediately and leave it still covered for two minutes untouched.
5. After that transfer the eggs into cold water immediately to avoid getting the yolk too cooked, and also the shell will be better to peel.
2:00pm After the satisfying treat of the local delicacies, we went to another factory visit, the famous Japanese beer “Asahi” brewery. Then 3:30pm followed by shopping spree at Tanukikoji Shopping Arcade
6:00pm Dinner: Steamboat and expensive pre-ordered Kobe beef.
<--- What a sweet slogan on the orange juice glass bottle.
8:00pm We checked into Sapporo Grand Hotel http://www.grand1934.com/english/
Bid goodnight in the heart of a night-less city, Sapporo… the sound of an endless traffic I heard in my deep sleep.
