Musical Camp 2009

IMG_0496 18th Dec Friday…

7:00am My dad, mum and brother were all so busy washing and splashing the floor, keep every corner nice and clean so that all the children could have a comfortable place to spend their whole day.

8:00am children started  to come in.  All were quite punctual and very shortly we started with grouping game.  I’ve gave out a small slip of paper with a note with different Key-signature to each of them “Children! find your group friends in the same key as yours… 3 minutes GO~!”

After that they’ll had to think of their group name and cheer.  Apple’s group was discussing very seriously and they came out with nice name and best cheer of all.  ~Red Apple Angel~ using the pink panther opening.

IMG_0513What were they doing?

Let’s listen to your group cheers~!
We’d got Red Apple Angel, Silver Mango, Pyramid and Black Angel.

Maybe all the brain haven’t really wake up in this early morning so the cheers were a bit scattered and lifeless.  Oh well we got better program after that,  I’m sure they’ll be wide awake in no time.

Let’s move on with the first group class hour performance.  The most beginner students will start first.

IMG_0523Ssshhhhhh~~ please respect the performers~!

It didn’t take long for 12 of them to finish their performance.  I started to guide my fellow assistants to guard each station for the station game.  We got a station which was passing a hula hoop without letting go their hands,  passing water with a clothe from one pail to the other, picking up beans with chopstick from one side to the other and blind fold one of their group member to look for the marks on the wall.  10 minutes for each station and we added up each group’s mark after that.

IMG_0596All done and time to reveal the score~~~ Black Angel team got the highest score~

Singing time~

We were singing <Laughing Singing>. I was trying to do cannon in 2 group but their pitching were really bad, turn out to be so horrible, so we decide to just sing unison.

IMG_0599Then another 2 part song <Black Birds> which the boys sing the lower part and the girls higher.  Boys got to do the easy job cause it’s in ostinato, but they got to count how many time they were the ostinatos with their fingers. haha~

Both songs were short and easy so it didn’t take long for them to get familiar with the verse and tune.

IMG_0617It’s 10:30am we started another group of class hour performance.

Some people were getting hungry at such early hour, but lunch was not ready yet, so my mum and the other “chef” assistant got ready some refreshment for them to fill their tummy temporary.

Cold orange lime juice and chiffon cakes.

Happy to have their tummy filled~

Red Apple Angel team got the best cheer, so Teacher Apple suggest that everyone do it together.  Let’s move~

11:30am, while waiting for the lunch to come I decided to arrange them into choir position from the shortest to tallest.  Just after we finished arranging everyone in position someone was saying “oo… taking group photo…”  ahh.. I almost forgot about that.  Yes we should take this chance to take a group photo.

say cheese… make funny faces… yay~!

Picture time over, now let’s rehearse the two song we’d sung just now.   Turn out to be horrible as well cause all were shouting and screaming to sing… yyyeeeee~~~
stop stop stop….
Children~! just sing lightly… don’t shout~!

12noon lunch not here yet, so let’s play a game.  First person will get the clue and act it without saying it out to the 2nd person, after my whistle the 2nd act it out to the 3rd, and go on until the last person will have to tell out the answer of the clue.

Piano Hand by Toma.

973535751106_0_BG by eugenethephotobug.
直接解释,或翻译成英文就是 as if it comes……

Ouch……

Mozart’s Alleluja

IMG_0307侯老师跟她的爱徒Joanna Wong 四手连弹 Mozart’s Sonata KV521 in C (1st movt)  --->

Black keys Etude: Chopin’s Etude Op.10, No.5 in G flat.

IMG_0326侯老师最成功的学生ChinLee:Debussy’s L’Isle Joyeous

Beethoven’s Pathetique Sonata in C minor Op.13 (3rd movt)

Chopin’s Etude Op.25, No.7 in C sharp minor

侯彬彬老师和王立达大师play on two pianos:Richard Rodney Bennett’s Four Pieces Suite (i) Samba Triste (ii) Finale。

Debussy’s Prelude book 1 Voiles
Schubert’s nachtst
ϋck。
弹奏了Chopin’s Ballade Op23 No.1。

Ian…你应该站师公的后面嘞~IMG_0466

Tan San

Nissan……UCC coffee…… Sony……

Bang!

Tan San

Chey……

Tan San

oisi~~~~~~!

Debut Concert for 侯家班~!

5th July was THE DAY for Ms.Hau’s student debut piano recitals.  My fellow friends was so excited but trembling… It’s their first recital and Ms.Hau expectation usually very high. 2

My students were so excited to watch the concert as well.  We were travelling south for 280KM just to catch this event.   They wanted to touch Ms.Hau’s brand new grand piano so much,  we finally make it before anyone arrive at the concert hall.  Yay~! must take picture~!

Finally they’ve arrived and short rehearsal was done again before the actual concert starts.  And so I kicked my student out to help out at the entrance,  to become an usher.

My friend ChengXui performing our dream piece, Beethoven’s Pathetic Sonata.  Everyone knows that Ms.Hau won’t teach anyone this piece because she did’t want anyone to spoil this wonderful great piece of Beethoven.  When we know she’s learning it we were so envy of her.
But she’s known as “breakdown queen” by Ms.Hau… so basically she did breakdown quite alot due to stage fright.  Ms.Hau was criticizing at the back stage “nobody plays well, only the dresses are outstanding”

Joanna was playing Debussy, she is technically gifted.  And ChinLee was guest of honor of this concert cause she’s the only student that could transfer from Ms.Hau to Mr.Ong Lip Tat (well reknown tutor in Singapore).

I sneaked to the backstage during the intermission.  They got outstanding dress indeed…IMG_0081

This concert was also meant to raise fund for medical expenses for one of the student, SzeNi.
she was diagnosed with Bilateral ovarion metastatic adenocarcinomas stage 1 one month ago.  She had performed a impressive piece of Ginastera’s Danzas Argentinas No.3.  Everyone cheered furiously after she played  this multiple glissando piece.  My fingers sore for her… heeee

Charles, our idol~~~ his so charming with swift fingers on the piano.. My student watch he’s every move with drop jaw.  He played Liszt Concert Etude- Forest Murmurs.
He’s a late-beginner which start learning piano at the age of 14.  He’d graduate with Bachelor of music studies in Austrialia and now he’s pursuing Licentiateship with Ms.Hau.

Ms.Hau is the encore of the night concert.  I excitingly anticipate her performance, and she’d played Liszt’s Liebestraum.  It was so heart warming and I basically can feel tears rolling and boiling out from the bottom of my heart.  oh if only Ms.Hau could play more… she’s such a good music interpreter.  Her strong flow of musical line is very impressive… no wonder she don’t want to teach this piece as well… nobody can imitate that.
It’s very rare to hear her music, as she seldom play to student even on the lesson because she wants everyone of us bring out our own emotion and feelings towards the music and not imitating her.  I’m so glad to be here.
