5th July was THE DAY for Ms.Hau’s student debut piano recitals. My fellow friends was so excited but trembling… It’s their first recital and Ms.Hau expectation usually very high.
My students were so excited to watch the concert as well. We were travelling south for 280KM just to catch this event. They wanted to touch Ms.Hau’s brand new grand piano so much, we finally make it before anyone arrive at the concert hall. Yay~! must take picture~!
Finally they’ve arrived and short rehearsal was done again before the actual concert starts. And so I kicked my student out to help out at the entrance, to become an usher.
Choir rehersal conducted by Ms.Hau.
It was a small event and only a small concert in a non-musical area of Malaysia, but wahlah~~ full house!!
Opening was a duet by two little princess…. playing Petite Tango.
He’s 15 and was playing well profound Chopin Waltz in C sharp minor. He’d obtained he’s ABRSM Grade 8 last year, and currently studying in Singapore but still very keen to learn with Ms.Hau in JB.
My friend ChengXui performing our dream piece, Beethoven’s Pathetic Sonata. Everyone knows that Ms.Hau won’t teach anyone this piece because she did’t want anyone to spoil this wonderful great piece of Beethoven. When we know she’s learning it we were so envy of her.
But she’s known as “breakdown queen” by Ms.Hau… so basically she did breakdown quite alot due to stage fright. Ms.Hau was criticizing at the back stage “nobody plays well, only the dresses are outstanding”
Joanna was playing Debussy, she is technically gifted. And ChinLee was guest of honor of this concert cause she’s the only student that could transfer from Ms.Hau to Mr.Ong Lip Tat (well reknown tutor in Singapore).
I sneaked to the backstage during the intermission. They got outstanding dress indeed…
ChengXui second round… she can’t afford to breakdown this time.. Luckily she didn’t. haha…
This concert was also meant to raise fund for medical expenses for one of the student, SzeNi.
she was diagnosed with Bilateral ovarion metastatic adenocarcinomas stage 1 one month ago. She had performed a impressive piece of Ginastera’s Danzas Argentinas No.3. Everyone cheered furiously after she played this multiple glissando piece. My fingers sore for her… heeee
Charles, our idol~~~ his so charming with swift fingers on the piano.. My student watch he’s every move with drop jaw. He played Liszt Concert Etude- Forest Murmurs.
He’s a late-beginner which start learning piano at the age of 14. He’d graduate with Bachelor of music studies in Austrialia and now he’s pursuing Licentiateship with Ms.Hau.
Ms.Hau is the encore of the night concert. I excitingly anticipate her performance, and she’d played Liszt’s Liebestraum. It was so heart warming and I basically can feel tears rolling and boiling out from the bottom of my heart. oh if only Ms.Hau could play more… she’s such a good music interpreter. Her strong flow of musical line is very impressive… no wonder she don’t want to teach this piece as well… nobody can imitate that.
It’s very rare to hear her music, as she seldom play to student even on the lesson because she wants everyone of us bring out our own emotion and feelings towards the music and not imitating her. I’m so glad to be here.
Concert ends and all the performers showed a big relief on their faces.
Everyone was waiting for this moment… Photo time~~~!
My students never forget to snatch a closer glimpse of their Grand Tutor.. haha…
Ms.Hau… they are your Grand Student.. remember their faces and next time be sure to hear them play…. haha Three of you are in big trouble liao…
I didn’t get to take any picture of myself… because I’m the camera woman of that night… sob sob….
你们三个要惜福啊~~!
